Microsoft just gave us a glimpse of how AI is going to change music production completely

If you’re curious to see how AI is going to change the music production landscape on every level, check out this video Microsoft posted for their new “Office 365 Co Pilot” technology. In a nutshell, it’s basically AI baked into all of their office products. Though this video doesn’t discuss music production per se, it gives us a glimpse of the real time capabilities of AI and how AI is going to make redundant most of the techniques and processes we’ve been refining for the past 20+ years.

Now take these concepts and translate them to the music production realm. Just imagine:

You’re on a call with two other producers and you’re all working on a song together. Someone asks “What was that one song by Black Eyed Peas?” AI not only serves up the song and all the info about it, but even offers to alter (or “adjust”) the current beat you’re working on to sound like the Black Eyed Peas song you referenced. Boom, loads it up, plays it back, compares it to your old beat, and even offers you 100 ways to tweak it further… even use the sounds in it but tweak them just enough say they can’t be traced back to the original.

That’s just a glimpse of what’s coming. Is it good or bad? Ethical? So many questions. Let me know your thoughts.
